The MediQo AI Patient Observation Assistant automatically captures, charts, and displays key patient health indicators during your consultation — without requiring manual data entry.
This guide explains how the feature works and how to use it effectively in your workflow.
What Is the AI Patient Observation Assistant?
The AI Patient Observation Assistant provides a passive, longitudinal view of important clinical observations, including:
Body Mass Index (BMI)
Body Weight
Blood Pressure
Body Temperature
Heart Rate
Capillary Refill Time
These observations are automatically extracted from your consultation audio and historical consult records, then charted over time.
The purpose of this feature is to:
Save clinicians time during consults
Surface trends instantly
Improve chronic disease monitoring
Support early identification of clinical risk
Reduce the need to manually search through previous notes
How It Works
When you are in a patient consultation:
MediQo listens to the consult via your AI Scribe.
Any referenced observations (e.g., blood pressure readings) are automatically captured.
Historical observations from previous consults are displayed.
The data is charted longitudinally — showing trends over time.
There is no manual data entry required.
Where to Find Patient Observations
During a consultation:
The Observation Assistant will appear alongside your AI Scribe and other MediQo tools.
Key health indicators will display in real time.
Each observation is clearly labelled.
You will see trend indicators such as:
Normal
Risky
Or other status flags to highlight potential follow-up needs.
These labels are designed to assist — not replace — clinical judgment.
Viewing Detailed Trends
If you would like to review a specific observation in more detail:
Click on the relevant health indicator (e.g., Blood Pressure).
A detailed view will open.
You can assess historical values and trend progression over time.
This supports:
Chronic disease management
Risk stratification
Identifying gradual deterioration
Informing treatment adjustments
How Observations Are Recorded
Observations are:
Extracted automatically from consultation audio
Recorded based on prior consult history
Charted longitudinally without manual input
If an observation is not discussed in the consult, it will not be artificially generated.
You remain fully responsible for reviewing and confirming clinical data before acting on it.
Why Use the AI Patient Observation Assistant?
This feature helps clinicians:
Save time searching historical notes
Instantly visualise trends
Improve documentation consistency
Support proactive follow-up
Enhance continuity of care
It is particularly valuable for:
Chronic disease management
Preventative care reviews
Ongoing monitoring
Aged care settings
Multi-visit care plans
Does This Replace Clinical Judgment?
No.
The AI Patient Observation Assistant supports decision-making by presenting historical data clearly. All observations must still be reviewed and interpreted by the clinician.
